Predictive SMS make children "impulsive"

Mobile Marketing News reports how a new study shows how children are developing behavioural habits through predictive SMS.

The SMS usage of respondent, aged between 11 and 14, were compared to the results of a number of IQ test. It was found that heavy usage of predictive texting alters brain functions.

The children are becoming very fast at testing and this is making them behave more impulsively in general and this means that they are less likely to think things thoroughly through.

It's no surprise that heavy usage appear to be quite normal amongst the young teenagers. 25% of respondent send over 20 SMS messages per week and a similar proportion made over 20 voice calls per week.
