100 million European viewers will be able to vote by SMS on Saturday when the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest is taking place.
42 nations are competing for the 20 places available in the final contest. Russia, France, Spain, England and Germany are amongst the countries already through to the finals.
Viewers in all 42 participating countries can votes for their favourite song(s) either by phone call or sending an SMS.
Viewers may vote up to 20 times, but votes have to take place within 15 minutes of each live performances. In addition, viewers are not allowed to vote for their own country.
MindMatics and digame mobile GmbH are organising the SMS voting for the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). MindMatics will collect SMS votes for every country, which they will forward to a pan-European voting platform administered by digame mobile, Cologne. From there, the final SMS results will be forwarded to Moscow, who is hosting the event.
